Scaling & Polishing
As one of the least invasive dental procedures, a teeth scale and polish removes plaque and tartar for general and improved oral health. No matter how well we brush our teeth, there will always be those hard to reach areas which can be difficult to keep clean. These areas are potentially where plaque can build up and stick to the teeth which, by brushing alone is virtually impossible to remove. If allowed to accumulate further, this can lead to dental health issues, gum disease along with bad breath and unsightly teeth.
A scale and polish to remedy these issues can be performed by our dentists. Tartar and plaque deposits are eliminated during the 1st stage of Scraping. In order to remove most of the tartar, ultrasonic scraping and specialised hand tools will usually be used first before removal of any stubborn residues. After this has been completed, your dentist will polish the surface of the teeth to leave them smooth and whiter.
